The Shrimpton Couture Archives
- From the Fall 1982 collection and I believe this may be the actual runway sample that walked the runway. It has no label, and it is made by hand, but to the level his runway samples are often made to. Some of the inner seams have been done with pinking shears instead of hand sewn at the edges and I have seen this before in his samples.
- Under the creative direction of Hubert de Givenchy
- The bodice and sleeves are made from a black velvet with a flat pile finish. It is meant to sit off shoulder
- The entire perimeter of the neck line and the very top of each sleeve are finished with dramatic feathers.
- The sleeves are tacked on to the edge of the bodice, but have the feel of a separate piece. They have a elastic at their tops.
- The skirt is done in a black and silver-grey striped taffeta with a red metallic dot woven through the silk.
- The bodice is fully lined in a black silk and the skirt in a black silk organza
- It closes with a back zipper and each sleeve zippers to close at the wrist.
